My application was accepted by the World Saxophone Congress XVI! I will perform the music of Adrienne Albert. The event takes place in St. Andrews, Scotland, July 10-15, 2012.

January 2012

All-District results are in! My students were awarded 1st chair alto sax (11-12), 1st chair baritone sax (11-12), 1st chair tenor sax (9-12), 2nd chair tenor sax (9-12) 1st chair bass clarinet (9-10), 1st chair bassoon (MS Concert), 3rd chair alto sax (MS Concert), and 12th chair clarinet (MS Concert). Congratulations!

December 2011

I received a Regional Artist Project Grant for 2012 from United Arts. I intend to use the funds to travel to the World Saxophone Congress XVI in St. Andrews, Scotland, July 10-15, 2012.

And, my Kickstarter project was a success! I raised enough money to complete my upcoming CD, "Works of Art". Projected release date, Jan. 31, 2012. My CD release party is Feb. 5, 2012 at Carswell Hall at Merdith College.

October 2011

September 2011

I will present a CD release/recital in cooperation with the Raleigh Symphony on Sunday, February 5, 2012, 3pm. Carswell Hall at Meredith College. For tickets call (919) 546-9755.

And, I will be playing with a few regional and local groups this fall. D-Town Brass, Tar River Swing Band, Tar River Orchestra, Tar River Symphonic Band, Carolina Clarinet Quartet, and North Carolina Saxophone Ensemble.

April 2011

The Raleigh Symphony has agreed to sponsor a recital for me in the 2011-2012 season. The recital will take place in Carswell Hall at Meredith College. The program will include many guest artists.

March 2011

Two of my high school students were chosen to participate in All-State Band 2011. 2nd chair tenor saxophone and 1st chair contrabass clarinet.

Also, an 8th grade middle school student of mine won 1st chair tenor sax at the All-State Jazz Band Audition. Way to go!

  • I am pleased to announce the opening of a new music teaching studio space in downtown Cary, NC. "Leechford Music Teaching Studios" will open later this month and will provide space for rent to experienced music teachers in the Raleigh/Durham area. The new studios are located in the Olde Cary Commons Building, 201 West Chatham Street, Suite, 106, Cary, NC. Currently, there is teaching space available.   • I was invited to judge the North Carolina Governor's School music audition on Feb. 26.

My students were awarded 1st chair tenor sax (11-12 wind ensemble), 1st chair contrabass clarinet (11-12 wind ensemble), 2nd chair tenor sax (MS symphonic band), 4th chair alto sax (MS symphonic band), 5th chair clarinet (MS symphonic band), 2nd chair bass clarinet (MS symphonic band), and 1st chair bass clarinet (MS concert band). Congratulations!
